Densified Silica Fume

COMPACTED · HIGH BULK DENSITY · LOW FREIGHT

Densified Silica Fume —
5 Factory Grades (85D–95D)
for Cost-Efficient Bulk Supply

Mechanically compacted from the same furnace fume — every agglomerate stays free-flowing at 600–680 kg/m³ bulk density, so you get lower shipping cost per ton than undensified, with far less dust on site. SiO₂ 85%–95%, all grades meet ASTM C1240, produced under ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 certified system, shipped from stock.

Densified Silica Fume

DENSIFIED — compacted agglomerates

Particles fused into free-flowing clumps → high bulk density, low dust, cheap to ship. Modern high-shear mixers re-disperse them fully.

UNDENSIFIED — free-flowing spheres

Each particle separate — peak reactivity, but bulky and dusty. Choose undensified only when the last % of activity matters.

Compacted for Logistics

Mechanical agglomeration raises bulk density to 600–680 kg/m³ — roughly double the as-produced figure, so far more tons fit in every container.

Lower freight cost per ton shipped

Low Dust on Site

Agglomerated granules stay locked together during handling and discharge — minimal airborne dust versus loose undensified powder.

Safer, cleaner batching environment

Easy Mechanical Pumping

Free-flowing compacted granules move smoothly through screw feeders and pneumatic lines — no bridging, no clogging at the silo.

Fits standard ready-mix plants

High-Volume Economics

The workhorse grade for bulk commercial concrete, where tonnage and freight outweigh the last percent of pozzolanic activity.

Densified Silica Fume Dosage

Application
Grade
Dosage
Why This Grade / Expected Result
Ready-Mix & Commercial Concrete (C40–C80)
5–10%

The industry default grade for bulk pours. Compacted form cuts freight per m³ of concrete; 28d activity ≥108% drives strength at scale.

Marine & Chloride-Exposed Structures
8–10%

Purer silica = denser C-S-H matrix. Cuts chloride diffusion roughly 10× versus plain OPC — ports, jetties, offshore decks.

Shotcrete / Tunnel Lining
5–10%

Free-flowing granules improve pumpability and cut rebound. The cost/logistics balance most tunnel campaigns settle on.

Refractory Castables
3–8%

LOI ≤2.0% means fewer impurities at 1,600 °C and above. Mullite forms in situ — standard for steel ladles and kiln linings.

Precast & Prestressed Elements
6–10%

Compacted flow suits automated batching; sub-micron packing improves early demould strength and surface finish.

Permeable / Low-Carbon Concrete
4–8%

Improves workability of lean permeable mixes while keeping the open gradation — popular in sponge-city paving.

Densified Silica Fume FAQ

Q

Should I choose densified or undensified silica fume?

If your project is high-volume ready-mix, precast or shotcrete where freight and handling dominate, densified silica fume wins on landed cost — same ASTM C1240 strength gain at roughly half the shipping volume. Choose undensified only when peak pozzolanic activity (C80+, grouting, specialty refractory) is the deciding factor.

Q

Will the compacted agglomerates disperse fully in my mixer?

Yes — modern high-shear and twin-shaft mixers break the agglomerates within the normal mixing cycle, delivering the same 28-day strength gain as undensified. For very low water-cement-ratio mixes, allow a slightly longer dispersion time or use a polycarboxylate admixture.

Q

How much freight do I actually save versus undensified?

At 600–680 kg/m³, densified fits about 2× the tonnage in the same 20' container — so freight per ton drops roughly 30–50% depending on route. On long hauls (Middle East, South America) the saving often outweighs the small activity premium.

Q

How is dust controlled when discharging densified bags?

Densified granules are already low-dust by nature. Our 25 kg bags use anti-static PE-lined paper, and the TDS includes a low-dust rip-and-pour procedure. For sensitive plants, ask about the low-dust bag variant — identical chemistry, surface-treated.

Q

Can I get the same high grades (96/99) in densified form?

Our standard densified line is 85D–95D. For 96%+/99% purity we supply undensified (96U/99U) or a custom densified blend — tell us your target SiO₂, LOI and PSD and our engineer drafts the spec.

Q

Do you offer semi-densified as a middle ground?

Yes — semi-densified 350–450 kg/m³, produced by mechanical aeration rather than compression, preserving about 90% of particle dispersion at ~35% less volume than undensified. Popular where freight per m³ is high but activity still matters.
